CVE-2024-29034Network attack vector

Stored XSS via ambiguous Content-Type parsing

Published Mar 24, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Cross-site scripting in CarrierWave before 2.2.6 and 3.0.0 through 3.0.6 allows remote authenticated users to run script via file uploads. CarrierWave::SanitizedFile#declared_content_type passes a comma-separated Content-Type through unchanged, so the allowlist and browsers select different MIME types. Exploitation requires an application using content_type_allowlist with object storage and a user to open the uploaded object.
