CVE-2024-29025Public exploitNetwork attack vector

HTTP server crash via unbounded form accumulation

Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Resource exhaustion in The Netty Project Netty before 4.1.108.Final allows remote attackers to crash HTTP servers via chunked forms. HttpPostRequestDecoder lacks limits on both the decoded fields retained in bodyListHttpData and the bytes buffered for an incomplete field in undecodedChunk. A Netty-based HTTP server is exposed only when it uses this decoder for form data; crafted chunked POST requests can exhaust heap memory and terminate the service.
