CVE-2024-29018Network attack vector

Data exfiltration via host-namespace DNS forwarding

Published Mar 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024

Information disclosure in Moby before 23.0.11, 25.0.0 through 25.0.4, and 26.0.0-rc1 through 26.0.0-rc2 allows attackers to exfiltrate data. The dockerd embedded resolver forwards unmatched internal-network queries through the host namespace when the host resolver uses loopback, bypassing container routing isolation. Control of a compromised container and an authoritative DNS domain permits encoded data in queries to reach that domain.
