CVE-2024-28995Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated file read via InternalDir traversal

Published Jun 6, 2024 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Path traversal in SolarWinds Serv-U 15.4.2 HF 1 and earlier allows remote attackers to read host files through crafted HTTP requests. The web interface accepts traversal segments in InternalDir and combines them with InternalFile without keeping the resolved path under its Client directory. No authentication or user interaction is required; readable, unlocked files at known paths are returned, while file modification and service interruption are not reported.
