CVE-2024-28971Network attack vector

Credential disclosure via plaintext password logging

Published May 8, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Plaintext password storage in Dell Update Manager Plugin 1.4.0 through 1.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to disclose credentials. The plug-in writes a password to its log in readable form rather than protecting the credential against disclosure. Exploitation requires high privileges and user interaction, and the exposed credential grants the compromised account's application privileges.
