CVE-2024-28955Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Sensitive-memory disclosure via world-readable crash dumps

Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Incorrect permissions in Sharp and Toshiba Tec MFP firmware allow attackers to read sensitive memory from world-readable crash dumps. The crash handler stores core files under /mnt/log with mode 0644, allowing every local account to inspect process memory that includes cleartext credentials. Exploitation requires a device crash and local file access, or a separate file-read flaw that exposes the dump remotely; the result is disclosure rather than modification or service interruption.
