CVE-2024-2887Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Renderer code execution via WebAssembly type-index overflow

Published Mar 26, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025

Type confusion in V8 WebAssembly in Google Chrome before 123.0.6312.86 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted HTML page. The type-section decoder counts recursive groups as single entries, allowing later heap-type indexes to exceed kV8MaxWasmTypes and alias reserved internal types. Loading attacker-controlled content is required; exploitation yields arbitrary read and write primitives and renderer code execution, still constrained by Chrome's process sandbox.
