Renderer code execution via WebCodecs use-after-free
Published Mar 26, 2024 · Updated Mar 22, 2025
Use-after-free in Google Chrome WebCodecs before 123.0.6312.86 allows remote attackers to execute code via a crafted HTML page. The WebCodecs implementation accesses an object after its storage is freed; Google has not published the affected function or precise lifetime error. A user must load attacker-controlled HTML, and demonstrated exploitation reaches code execution inside the browser renderer sandbox.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
