CVE-2024-28850

Conditional code execution via unsigned cron event code

Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Code execution in John Blackbourn WP Crontrol before 1.16.2 allows attackers to run PHP through tampered WP-Cron event code. The plugin stores administrator-created PHP event code in the WordPress options table and, before 1.16.2, executes it without verifying an integrity hash. Reachability requires separate write access to wp_options or attacker-controlled invocation of an arbitrary action, filter, or function; the feature is not independently vulnerable.
