SYSTEM privilege escalation via writable agent directory
Published Jul 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Incorrect permissions in the Checkmk Windows Agent allow local users on affected Windows hosts to execute commands with SYSTEM privileges. The C:\ProgramData\checkmk\agent directory grants excessive write access, letting non-administrators alter content consumed by the LocalSystem agent service. An authenticated account on the monitored host is required; successful exploitation grants complete administrative control through the service identity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=2.0.0 <=2.0.0p39
