Authenticated site-file read and write via unrestricted paths
Published May 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in Checkmk check_sftp before 2.3.0p4, 2.2.0p27, or 2.1.0p44 allows remote authenticated users to read and write site files. The check accepted configured upload and download paths without confining them to its dedicated directory, allowing those paths to address files elsewhere under the Checkmk site home. Exploitation requires permission to configure check_sftp; successful use reads or overwrites files accessible to the Checkmk site account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
