CVE-2024-28825Network attack vector

Password brute-forcing via uncounted API login failures

Published Apr 24, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper login throttling in Checkmk before 2.3.0b5, 2.2.0p26, or 2.1.0p43 and through 2.0.0p39 allows remote attackers to brute-force passwords. REST API and HTTP Basic Authentication failures did not increment the failed-login counter that locks human user accounts after repeated failures. Network access to either login method permits unlimited password guesses against human accounts; automation accounts intentionally remain outside the lockout policy.
