Admin-session compromise via stored customization script
Published Aug 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Koha 23.05 and earlier allows remote attackers to run JavaScript through Additional Contents. The additional-contents.pl add_validate operation accepts content_default from a crafted URL and stores it as an HTML customization without neutralizing script-capable markup. Execution requires a staff administrator to open the link or later visit the stored customization while authenticated; the script can act through that session, including changing the administrator password or chaining to command execution when the separate task-scheduler flaw or plugin uploads are reachable.
