Account takeover via unrestricted password-change request
Published Mar 20, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Improper authentication in Unit4 Financials by Coda before 2023Q4 allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts via a crafted request. The /coda/rest/session/password endpoint accepts a target username separately from the authenticated user's password and changes the target's password without verifying authority over that account. Any valid account, regardless of profile, and knowledge of the target username are sufficient; successful exploitation grants control of the target account.
