Code execution via malicious FreeMarker theme template
Published Mar 28, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Code execution in theme management in Mtons Mblog 3.5.0 allows remote attackers to run commands by uploading a crafted theme archive. The upload path accepts a ZIP containing an attacker-modified FreeMarker index template and renders it after the theme is enabled, evaluating template directives through FreeMarker 2.3.29. Exploitation requires access to theme management and a request that renders the malicious index; successful execution runs with the server process's privileges.
