CVE-2024-28709Network attack vector

Browser-session compromise via unencoded upload metadata

Published Oct 7, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026

Stored cross-site scripting in LimeSurvey before 6.5.12+240611 allows remote attackers to run script in another user's browser. The file-upload question dialog inserts unencoded title and comment values into generated HTML; the fix applies htmlentities before template substitution. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled upload metadata to be displayed by another user, exposing browser-accessible data and actions within the LimeSurvey origin.
