CVE-2024-28699Public exploit

Local code execution via crafted PDF parsing

Published Apr 22, 2024 · Updated Jul 9, 2026

Buffer overflow in Devaldi Limited PDF2JSON 0.70 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted PDF file. The referenced proof of concept drives damaged PDF parsing into GString::copy during ImgOutputDev construction, where AddressSanitizer reports leaked allocations rather than an out-of-bounds write. Local access and processing of attacker-controlled PDF input are required; the published reference does not demonstrate the claimed buffer overflow or code execution.
