CVE-2024-28639Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via unchecked IP-field copy

Published Mar 16, 2024 · Updated Mar 26, 2025

Buffer overflow in TOTOLINK X5000R 9.1.0u.6118-B20201102 and A7000R 9.1.0u.6115-B20201022 allows remote attackers to execute code. The sub_41F7E8 function in /www/cgi_bin/cstegi.cgi copies the IP field into a fixed-size buffer without checking its length. No authentication or user interaction is required; a crafted network request can take control of the router or crash its management service.
