CVE-2024-2863Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated file write via thumbnail path traversal

Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Path traversal in LG LED Assistant 2.1.65 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files through an unauthenticated upload request. The /api/thumbnail handler in Common.js accepts a user-controlled fileName and uses it as a disk path without restricting traversal outside the thumbnail directory. No authentication or user interaction is required; the demonstrated consequence is writing attacker-chosen content to any location permitted to the application process.
