CVE-2024-28627Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Protected-document disclosure via client-side password check

Published Apr 23, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Authentication bypass in Flipsnack reader.gz.js dated 18/03/2024 and earlier allows remote attackers to read protected documents. The isCorrectPassword function compares an entered password with a hash exposed in data.json entirely in client-side JavaScript, so changing its return value to true defeats the check. Any unauthenticated reader who can load a protected publication can bypass its document-access control and disclose its contents.
