CVE-2024-28593Network attack vector

Disputed content injection via intended Chat HTML

Published Mar 22, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024

Content injection in Moodle Chat 4.3.3 allows students to render A and IMG elements to other participants through crafted messages. The Chat message renderer accepts user-supplied HTML rather than neutralizing it, but Moodle documentation expressly identifies HTML formatting as supported behavior. A student must join a shared Chat activity; the record is disputed, and no faulty sanitization locus or executable-script proof is published.
