CVE-2024-2859

Root access via default OpenSSH root login

Published Apr 27, 2024 · Updated Mar 19, 2025

Incorrect default permissions in Broadcom Brocade SANnav OVA allow remote attackers with the root password to obtain root access over SSH. The appliance's OpenSSH configuration enables root login by default through the PermitRootLogin setting rather than requiring a non-root administrative account. Exploitation requires valid root credentials and network reachability to SSH, after which the attacker receives unrestricted control of the SANnav host.
