Administrator-session script execution via unsanitized button CSS
Published Apr 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 9, 2024
Stored XSS in Robby Chen Simple Buttons Creator 1.04 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in an administrator's browser. The unauthenticated bt-manage.php add-button endpoint accepts the bt_css field without authorization, sanitization, or output escaping and stores it for the edit page. Execution occurs when a logged-in administrator opens the crafted button's edit view, allowing script to act in that administrator's WordPress session.
