Process crash via TIFF profile use-after-free
Published Mar 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Heap use-after-free in FreeImage 3.19.0 allows local users to crash an image-processing application by supplying a crafted TIFF file. During TIFF loading, FreeImage_CreateICCProfile reads freed heap memory after nested thumbnail processing, as shown by two sanitizer traces. Exploitation requires a consuming application to process the file and is limited to interrupting that process; no data disclosure or modification is reported.
