CVE-2024-28565Public exploit

Process crash via PSD heap buffer over-read

Published Mar 20, 2024 · Updated Dec 4, 2024

Heap buffer over-read in FreeImage 3.19.0 r1909 allows local users to crash image-processing applications via a crafted PSD file. PSDParser.cpp's psdParser::ReadImageData reads beyond its allocated heap buffer while FreeImage_Load decodes image data. Local users must cause an application to load crafted PSD input; the documented outcome is a process crash, not data disclosure or modification.
