Unauthenticated root command execution via SMB username
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command injection in TRENDnet TEW-827DRU Firmware 2.10B01 and earlier allows remote attackers to obtain root shell access via apply.cgi. The apply.cgi handler passes the usapps.@smb[%d].username POST value to a shell command without neutralizing command separators. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation executes attacker-supplied commands with root privileges.
