CVE-2024-28353Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Root command execution via unsanitized SMB administrator name

Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 27, 2024

Command injection in TRENDnet TEW-827DRU firmware 2.10B01 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The apply.cgi interface passes the usapps.config.smb_admin_name POST value into an operating-system command without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Network access to the management interface and low-privilege authentication are required; successful exploitation grants root control of the router.
