CVE-2024-28335Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Shell command execution via DB path traversal

Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Path traversal in Lektor before 3.3.11 allows remote attackers to write template files and execute shell commands through localhost requests. make_editor_session accepted parent-directory segments such as /../../templates, while untrusted_to_os_path returned an unchecked path as an OS path. Exploitation requires the development server on localhost port 5000 and a browser on the same machine to load attacker-controlled JavaScript.
