CVE-2024-28319Public exploit

Process crash via unchecked DASH descriptor value

Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in GPAC 2.3 allows local users to crash MP4Box while inspecting a crafted MPEG-DASH manifest. The gf_dash_setup_period function passes an unchecked null mpd_desc->value pointer to sscanf while parsing an SRD descriptor. The disclosed proof of concept requires local invocation of MP4Box on attacker-controlled media and demonstrates a process crash, not data disclosure.
