Process crash via zero-length SWF string
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in GPAC 2.3-DEV-rev921-g422b78ecf-master allows remote attackers to crash MP4Box via a crafted SWF file. When an empty SWF stream reaches swf_get_string, its bounds-error path writes a null byte to name[read->size-1], indexing before the buffer. A user must make MP4Box inspect the file; the demonstrated result is an AddressSanitizer-detected write fault and process abort.
