Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Apr 4, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in the st_tag_cloud shortcode in TaxoPress 3.12.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in visitors' browsers. The shortcode accepts user-controlled attributes without sufficient sanitization and renders them without adequate output escaping, preserving injected script markup in a page. Contributor-level access is required to plant the payload; execution occurs when a visitor opens the affected page, exposing that visitor's browser session to attacker-controlled script actions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
