Pre-authentication API access via path substring matching
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 19, 2024
Authentication bypass in OpenMetadata before 1.2.4 allows remote attackers to reach protected API endpoints without a JWT. The JwtFilter tests whether the request path contains any excluded-endpoint substring and returns before JWT validation, so a crafted path parameter embeds an allowed string inside a protected route. Unauthenticated reachability includes endpoints with separate SpEL injection flaws, enabling pre-authentication command execution when the flaws are chained.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
