CVE-2024-28241

Local privilege escalation via inherited installation permissions

Published Apr 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper privilege management in GLPI Agent before 1.7.2 allows local users to gain elevated privileges through a custom MSI installation. The Windows MSI leaves a nondefault installation directory with inherited permissions instead of applying an ACL that denies Authenticated Users write access. A low-privileged local user must be able to write that directory and await privileged agent execution, after which substituted code or DLLs run in the agent's security context.
