Stored XSS and DoS via preview upload
Published Jun 20, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Unrestricted file upload in metaVentis GmbH edu-sharing allows remote authenticated users to execute stored JavaScript in visitors' browsers. The collection icon endpoint accepts caller-controlled mimetype values, stores PNG-prefixed HTML or entity-expanding SVG content, and later serves or parses it at the direct preview URL. Affected 8.0, 8.1, and 9.0 branches precede 8.0.8-RC2, 8.1.4-RC0, and 9.0.0-RC19 respectively; exploitation requires an account and a visitor to open the preview, enabling browser script execution or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
