Root escalation via passwordless sudo mount
Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Privilege escalation in Image Access GmbH Scan2Net 7.42B and earlier allows attackers controlling www-data to gain root access through sudo. The sudo policy lets www-data run mount as root without a password, and mount can bind the Bash executable over its own path before that path is invoked. Exploitation requires command execution as www-data and yields unrestricted root command execution on the scanner.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
