CVE-2024-28120Public exploitNetwork attack vector

API key disclosure via unchecked external messages

Published Mar 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Information disclosure in Exafunction Codeium Chrome Extension 1.2.52 and earlier allows remote attackers to steal API keys via a crafted website. The serviceWorker.ts onMessageExternal listener accepts a user request from any origin and returns the stored name, API key, and settings without checking sender.origin or sender.url. A victim must load the attacker's page with the extension installed; the exposed key permits backend autocomplete requests under the victim's identity.
