CVE-2024-28105Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via category image upload

Published Mar 25, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024

Unrestricted file upload in phpMyFAQ 3.2.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted category image. CategoryImage::getFileExtension returns an empty extension for an unrecognized Content-Type, while getFileName concatenates the attacker-controlled lang value into the saved name, enabling a .PHP suffix. Administrative category-editing access is required, and successful exploitation writes a web shell into the web-accessible images directory for command execution.
