CVE-2024-28099

Code execution via uncontrolled DLL search path

Published Apr 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 8, 2024

Uncontrolled DLL loading in KEYENCE CORPORATION VT STUDIO 8.32 and earlier allows local users to execute code via a planted library. A VT STUDIO function searches a user-writable folder for a DLL and loads a same-named attacker file without constraining the search path; published advisories do not identify the function or DLL. Exploitation requires tricking a user into placing the malicious DLL in that folder and launching the application, after which code runs with that user's privileges.
