Arbitrary file access via messageId path traversal
Published May 18, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Path traversal in Kiteworks Totemomail before 8.3.0 allows remote attackers to read, write, and delete files through its web interface. The EnvelopeOpenServlet uses the messageId parameter as a server-side path for displayLoginChunkedImages and storeLoginChunkedImages without confining it to the intended directory. No session cookie is required; file access is limited by the application account, and reads delete the target after returning it, enabling a service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
