CVE-2024-28021Network attack vector

Trusted-entity spoofing via improper certificate validation

Published Jun 11, 2024 · Updated Oct 29, 2024

Improper certificate validation in Hitachi Energy FOXMAN-UN and UNEM R15B PC4 and R16B PC2 allows remote attackers to spoof trusted entities. The server message-queueing mechanism fails to validate peer certificates correctly and accepts a spoofed peer as a trusted entity. Reachability requires network access to the message-queueing service; successful spoofing exposes message data to reading or modification without interrupting service.
