CVE-2024-28007Network attack vector

Root command execution via improper authentication

Published Mar 28, 2024 · Updated Jan 14, 2025

Improper authentication in NEC Aterm firmware allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands as root over a LAN. NEC identifies telnet as the affected locus but has not published the authentication operation that incorrectly accepts command requests. Access is limited to the LAN side and requires previously obtained high privileges; successful exploitation grants root-level command execution.
