CVE-2024-27946Network attack vector

Arbitrary file overwrite via chosen download filename

Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Path traversal in Siemens RUGGEDCOM CROSSBOW before 5.5 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite arbitrary installation files. Its file-download workflow accepts a caller-specified target filename and writes downloaded content over any same-named file in the installation directory. High-privilege access to the network service is required, and successful exploitation can corrupt application files or interrupt the server.
