Contributor-level script execution via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Mar 30, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in the editorskit shortcode in Munir Kamal EditorsKit 1.40.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The shortcode renderer accepts user-supplied attributes without sufficient sanitization and emits them without context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access or higher is required to persist the payload in a page, and the script executes in the browser of anyone who later visits that page.
