CVE-2024-27871

Protected user data access via path validation

Published Jul 29, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

Path traversal in the Sandbox component of Apple iOS, iPadOS, and macOS allows local users to access protected user data. The component improperly handles a path that requires stronger validation, but Apple has not disclosed the affected routine, path form, or exact restricted-data boundary. Execution of attacker-controlled code as a local app is required, and the documented consequence is limited to reading protected user data.
