CVE-2024-27829

Arbitrary code execution via AppleVA memory mishandling

Published May 13, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

Memory corruption in AppleVA in Apple macOS before 14.5 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code or terminate an app by processing a file. Apple identifies deficient memory handling in AppleVA but has not disclosed the affected parser, memory operation, or file format. Exploitation requires a user or application to process a crafted file, and the resulting impact is bounded to app termination or code execution.
