CVE-2024-27817

Kernel-privileged code execution by local apps

Published Jun 10, 2024 · Updated Apr 2, 2026

Missing integrity checks in CoreMedia in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and visionOS allow local apps to execute code with kernel privileges. Apple has not disclosed which CoreMedia check mishandles app-controlled input or the operation performed on that input. Execution requires a local app and user interaction; successful exploitation crosses into the kernel with full confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
