Disputed command execution via privileged UDF loading
Published Oct 17, 2024 · Updated Oct 20, 2024
Code execution in MariaDB Server 11.1 allows remote authenticated users to run OS commands through the lib_mysqludf_sys UDF. The reported technique registers a pre-positioned lib_mysqludf_sys.so file from the server plugin directory and invokes its command-execution function. MariaDB Foundation disputes that this crosses a privilege boundary because loading the UDF requires database privileges and prior placement of its library.
