Local code execution via SLURM_NODELIST interpolation
Published Mar 12, 2025 · Updated Mar 12, 2025
Command injection in XPixelGroup BasicSR 1.4.2 and earlier allows local users to execute code through a crafted SLURM_NODELIST value. In basicsr/utils/dist_util.py, _init_dist_slurm interpolates that environment value into a shell command passed to subprocess.getoutput without validation or quoting. Exploitation requires local control of the process environment and invocation of the SLURM launcher path, and injected commands run with the BasicSR process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
