Event impersonation via user-controlled contact identifier
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 16, 2024
Authorization bypass in Friendica 2023.12 allows remote attackers to publish a calendar event as another local user via its cid parameter. The event-edit handler accepts a submitted cid value for an existing event and persists it without binding the contact identifier to the editor. A crafted edit that zeroes the field reshares the event under another user's identity; the upstream patch does not substantiate code execution.
