Sensitive-data theft via tokenless Babel submission
Published Aug 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 20, 2024
Reflected XSS in Friendica 2023.12 allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information through the Babel debug feature's text parameter. Babel accepts attacker-controlled text without validating a form security token and returns interpreted output in an HTML response. A victim must open a crafted request; injected script then runs in the Friendica origin and can read or alter data available to that victim.
